Following the success of their single ‘The View From A Memorial Bench’, Martyrs have blessed our ears with a brand new single ‘Pin Blue Sometime.’ Self-described as ‘The uneasy gap between Arab Strap and Suede’, this part spoken, part sung indie rock tune is an unusual mix of instruments combined to create something amazing. I love the flamenco-inspired guitar riff that blends strangely well with the drum beat and spoken vocals. Horns accompany the chorus bringing an upbeat feeling to be then joined by joyful piano to play the song out. This Welsh duo, formed at 15 years old are making waves as their music rightfully makes its way to radio play, and their ethic of making the music THEY want to hear is incredibly respectable.

The variety of music that Martyrs creates is admirable, they are not connected to one genre in the slightest. 'The View From A Memorial Bench' borrows from heavy rock and feels very Black Sabbath whereas their album 'Luminism' is a lot softer and lends itself to more 70s/80s psychedelic rock. They say that they make the music that feels right for them without considering what genre it might be, and I appreciate this approach, you can tell that a lot of love is put into their craft which at the end of the day is what music is all about. If you enjoy this song, check out their homemade music video, filmed in the hometown of one of the band members, it's wonderful.
